A few personal projects I’ve done just for fun.
Nosey is a sort-of 'persona' I created as a way to experiment with 3D character animation. Like many of my other projects, his design was influenced heavily by early 3D video games from the late 90s and early 2000s. I've used him for a variety of projects, and over time he's become how I represent myself online. Below are a few animations featuring Nosey, all created using a combination of Blockbench, Blender, and After Effects.
On April 1st, 2023, I challenged myself to create 100 animated designs over the course of 100 days. It wasn’t an April Fool’s joke; My goal was to improve my motion design skills by forcing myself to create something every single day for more than three months. I called these daily projects ‘Postars’ (posters, with a little bit of animated flair).
Over those 100 days I spent an estimated 300 hours in After Effects learning all the tips and tricks I could find, eventually branching out and experimenting with 3D. I learned a ton, and I’m quite proud to say that I accomplished my goal in mid
July 2023.
Below is a small sample of the project - my ten personal favorites. If you’re interested in seeing the other 90 designs, you can find them all on my Instagram!
As someone who grew up during the 2000s, the ‘Y2K’ aesthetic is one I hold near and dear to my heart. My favorite example of this design style is the Windows Media Player, and its many alternate skins. Pulling inspiration from the futuristic, alien designs of these skins, I created a series of media player concepts of my own using a combination of Photoshop and After Effects.
If you’re like me and hold nostalgia for the dreamy, futuristic, and bizarre aesthetics of the 2000s, these may seem very familiar to you.
